Hair Transplant

What is Hair Transplant?

Hair transplant is a surgical method aimed at restoring hair to areas of the scalp that are experiencing baldness or thinning hair. Everyone loses hair daily at a rate of around 50 to 150 individual hairs per day. Usually, the hair will grow back. However, if the hair follicle is thinned, this re-growth does not happen. Pattern baldness or Androgenetic alopecia is one of the top causes of hair loss and permanent baldness. Hair transplant surgery is performed to restore hair to regions of the scalp that are bald or that have thinning hair. There are numerous kinds of hair replacement surgery.

Our hair transplant surgeon performs transplants using diverse techniques and technologies such as:

  • Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT)
  • Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)
  • Medlinks- Perfect-I
  • Scalp reduction

Large Hair Transplant Sessions

Hair transplantation is a surgical process wherein the survival and placement of every graft are of key importance. This is where the expertise of a surgeon comes into the picture.

We have rich experience in performing large densely-packed mega-sessions exceeding 4000 grafts and delivering world-class results with a transection rate of less than 1%. We use state-of-the-art technology and equipment to safely transplant a large number of grafts in a single session.

We aim to help patients get the best possible cosmetic result in terms of the total donor deserves, while keeping their safety as a top priority.

Hair Loss/Shedding After Hair Transplantation

Whether using Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) or Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT), shedding of transplanted hair or effluvium (medical term) is believed to be a normal after-effect of any hair transplantation surgery, which occurs mainly due to a graft being temporarily stripped of its blood supply. This shedding of transplanted hair usually begins around 1-week post-surgery and continues till about 6 weeks in most cases.

While many patients get worried about experiencing the shedding of their newly transplanted hair, it is important to remember that this is just a transient phenomenon that will be corrected as the new hairs will begin to grow.

We are a team of highly-qualified doctors who identify the right candidates for the surgery and then formulate a procedure with enough grafts to provide patients with significant cosmetic benefits, after taking into account hair loss in future and further miniaturization.

Frequently Asked Questions

Generally, a hair transplant process is safe when performed on a healthy scalp. Hair transplant procedures are designed to provide permanent hair-bearing areas where the hair cycle of shedding and regrowth can occur naturally with minimum possibility of hair loss.  A highly experienced, expert hair transplant surgeon and a team like ours take care of these aspects while performing hair transplant surgery. However, one cannot rule out that an individual’s healing abilities and associated conditions influence the outcome.

Most patients see results between 6 and 9 months after surgery. For some patients, it takes 12 months.

It’s essential to know that between 2 and 8 weeks after the surgery, the transplanted hair will fall out. This is usual. By the third month, the hair may look thinner than before you had the transplant. Again, this is normal.

With the use of local anesthesia and intravenous sedation, pain or discomfort during the procedure is eliminated.

You will be capable to participate in any of the exercises you enjoy within 5 to 7 days after treatment. Your transplanted hair is permanent and can be washed, cut and dyed.

When you have your hair grafted from the back and sides of your scalp to your balding spots, called an autograft, the hair will grow for the rest of your life.
